| w h y ? | The most frequently asked, yet seemingly unanswered question about life. In some of my darkest hours, on the worst of the worst days, when I can’t seem to understand where I’m headed… This quote has kept me going. So I thought I’d share it with you:
When you’re down to nothing… God is up to something!
To me, this answers the question. It reminds me to stay positive on days when all I want to do is throw myself a huge never-ending pity party. I haven’t felt like this recently, but like most people, I’ve endured some major rough patches where literally NOTHING that was happening seemed to make any sense. I wasn’t able to move forward until I realized that it’s okay to not understand. I don’t need to. Maybe that’s the beauty in it? Bad days obviously still exist, but they just don’t bother me as much!
It can be hard to see the big picture… To realize there is just so much more to it than we know. If you find yourself asking why? Or why me? Or where do I go from here? You may want to just give up. You may feel like God has abandoned you. You may feel nothing at all. Numb to life. No matter what you’re going through right now, there is good news: God is up to something!
It sounds so cliché, but only because it couldn’t be more true. Nothing is random. The most terrible days… Months… Maybe even years… Are leading you to somewhere more beautiful than you could ever create on your own. As hard as it is, as much as you want to throw your phone at the wall and scream, “Abby! You just don’t understand!!!!” I want you to know, you’re probably right. I don’t understand. I’ve possibly felt similar feelings, but maybe not.
This is your story, your life. No one will ever know what it is like to be you. No one can feel what you feel, or what you’ve felt. So that leaves you with two choices… Will you stay down forever, or will you try to do whatever it takes to keep your head up? Trust that the bad is leading you to better. It’s never easy… But it’ll be worth it.
What will YOUR story be?
Two things define you: Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything. — Imam Ali
If there is someone in your life who might need to hear this message of hope, or would just appreciate some extra words of encouragement, please don’t hesitate to share it with them. I know it’s hard to openly talk about deep emotions like this, it took me years to even accept the fact that writing this blog is one of my favorite hobbies/a part of my BIG amazing scary AF dreams. But it’s worth it. You never know who may need the gifts you have to offer!
